Kids Camp
Hello to all Campers, Parents, Grandparents and Friends of CYCC Kids Camp!
Summer is fast approaching and we know you are busy making plans for vacations and camps. We want to make sure you include a
week, two weeks, or even more time for your children to spend with us here at the CYCC Kids Camp!
As many of you know from last year, or Camp Director of many years, Tonya Felix, retired from her position. She has taken on a very challenging job with the local school system and we wish her the best! We have hired a wonderful new Camp Director, Janet Leahy. Janet has taught children of all ages in school settings as well as in music and theater. Janet has a BA in Psychology and has spent time as a Social Worker before joining the staff of the Wellfleet Montessori Preschool. Janet is going to bring a new flavor to our camp, which will include incorporating her passions of music and theater.
We have also made a few technical changes to our camp that I believe will make parents happy. In the past, we have cut our camp day short if there was inclement weather and we were unable to go outside for an extended period of time. Starting this
season, we are offering the full day of camp regardless of weather. Obviously, activities will be changed accordingly, but you can count on your children spending the full time here with us so your day doesn’t have to change with the weather.
Because of this change in weather policy, we will once again offer only full camp during the camp week of Monday through Thursday. The sailing only option during camp will not be offered so that we can be flexible with activities and everyone at camp will be learning the same skills along with the other participants close to or on the same level. Sailing during the camp week will focus on beginner and intermediate level skills with an emphasis on working toward the ability to participate in beginning level races on Saturdays during the season!
We will not be offering camp lunches this year through the snack bar. We have found this process to be cumbersome and time consuming and it takes away from socialization time for the campers. We will ask campers to bring their lunches each day so the counselors and the campers can focus on fun and learning from each other during the very important lunch time.
We encourage you to sign your children up for as many weeks as you feel will benefit them! Even if some skills and activities are covered more than once, it is a good way to keep working on mastering sports and skills and get your kids ready for private lessons in areas they have come to love. Each day is different in many ways and, as always, we want your child to enjoy every minute they spend here with us in a safe and fun environment!
We have begun taking credit cards for camp this year, so print our the enrollment form, fill it out, and send it back to us with a check or call us with a credit card number at 508-349-3704 ext 5 after sending in your form and we will get your children signed up for a wonderful summer treat! If you have further questions please Janet Leahy at camp@cycc.net.
